Gov't Planning Cuts in Salaries of Managers in State-run Companies

Bratislava, November 17 (TASR) - Salaries of managers in state-run companies should be reduced as part of Government's austerity drive, it was announced at the Government session on Wednesday.

"The rules of rewarding managers shouldn't concern only 2011, but should resolve this sphere systematically and over the long term," reads a document drawn up by the Finance Ministry.

At the same time, Government should re-evaluate state participation in individual companies, as its involvement in several cases isn't it necessary, claims the Finance Ministry.

Furthermore, the ministry is considering increasing state revenues from gambling. "Revenues from gambling represent a significant source of income for the state budget. It's necessary to analyse opportunities for increasing these revenues," according to the Finance Ministry statement.
