Bratislava, November 16 (TASR) - Approximately 450 Italian companies are currently operating in Slovakia, executive vice-president of the Italian-Slovak Chamber of Commerce (TSOK) Michele Bologna told TASR in Bratislava on Tuesday.
"The vast majority are associated in our Italian-Slovak Chamber of Commerce, which is a state-private organisation as it also represents the Italian Foreign Trade Ministry," said Bologna.
Italian business interests focus on several sectors including energy and banking, two areas where large Italian investors are active. "Mid-sized and small enterprises are the backbone of the Italian economy, however," he said, noting the strong position of the engineering sector in the past few years.
Meanwhile, Slovak investments in Italy are in the embryonic stages. "A handful of Slovak companies have shown an interest in hotels and tourism," said Bologna.
