Monday 15 November 2010 Zoom in | Print page
Bratislava, November 15 (TASR) - Cohesion policy is one of the most successful in the European Union (EU), allowing regional disparities in EU regions to shrink significantly over the past four years, according to EU Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn speaking to reporters after meeting V4 officials responsible for regional policies in Bratislava on Monday.
"The current economic crisis may represent a potential threat, making the disparities becoming more apparent, but we need to do our utmost not to make it happen," said Hahn.
According to Hungarian Minister for National Development Tamas Fellegi, his country - presiding over EU as of January 2011 - wants to pursue more solidarity and effectiveness in the Union's cohesion policies, including those to narrow the disparities between regions and subregions in the EU.
