Bratislava, November 15 (TASR) - The Finance Ministry is calling for suggestions from the public in how not to squander public finances and, by the same token, how to save on public expenditures, according to a statement that the Finance Ministry provided to TASR on Monday.
"Public finances represent people's money, so we're interested in receiving suggestions from people that will help towards a more responsible attitude vis-a-vis spending of (public) money," according to the ministry statement.
Public finance expenditure is set to amount to nearly €27 billion in 2011, said ministry spokesman Martin Jaros. The sum is made up of numerous smaller-scale items where savings can be made thanks to more efficient management.
According to Finance Minister Ivan Miklos, entrepreneurs and the public are aware of specific areas where savings are possible, but to date they've been unable to have any influence in this sphere.
