Slovakia and Cyprus Seal Deal on Protection of Classified Information

Bratislava, November 11 (TASR) - Head of Slovakia's National Security Bureau (NBU) Frantisek Blanarik and Cyprus's Foreign Affairs Minister Markos Kyprianou signed an agreement between their two countries in Bratislava on Thursday concerning the protection of confidential information, TASR learnt on the same day.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic and Cyprus's head of state Dimitris Christofias.

The Cypriot president and his wife Elsi were earlier welcomed at the Presidential Palace at the beginning of their official two-day visit to Slovakia.

After the signing ceremony, the two presidents and their respective delegations held plenary talks.

Later on Thursday, Christofias is slated to meet Slovak Parliamentary Chairman Richard Sulik and open both a Slovak-Cypriot economic forum and Cyprus's new embassy in Bratislava. A ceremonial dinner at the Presidential Palace will be held in the evening.

The Cypriot delegation will round off its visit to Slovakia on Friday morning.
