Bratislava, November 9 (TASR) - The Institute for Public Affairs (IVO) on Tuesday offered its sincere condolences to the relatives of lawyer Ernest Valko, who was murdered on Monday.
"We're shocked by the murder of our long-term administration board member and colleague Ernest Valko. We can't even believe this. He was a good friend and, as a prominent constitutional lawyer, he took part in many IVO research and publication projects. He had been with the Institute ever since it came into existence," reads a statement given to TASR on Tuesday.
IVO also called on the police to do their utmost to solve this despicable murder and to make sure that the perpetrators are justly punished. "We call on politicians and public officials to condemn emphatically this heinous crime."
This sentiment was shared by the M.E.S.A. 10 think tank, whose members were greatly saddened by the news.
"We hope that the perpetrators of this terrible crime will be quickly found and justly punished. At the same time, our thoughts are with the bereaved, to whom we'd like to offer our condolences," reads a statement given to TASR by M.E.S.A. 10 representatives.
The non-profit organisation, which draws up economic and social analyses, collaborated with Valko on a number of projects.
