Bratislava, November 5 (TASR) – Slovak Prime Minister Iveta Radicova will receive Glamour Magazine's "Woman of the Year" during a gala in Carnegie Hall in New York on November 8, TASR was informed by Government Office press department on Friday.
Next to Radicova, the prestigious award will also be given to other world politicians - Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite, Croatia's Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissessar. Glamour will honour five heads of state in recognition of their individual achievements on behalf of their respective countries. All five honourees were ranked among the most powerful women on earth.
"In some countries we have had the right to vote for less than 100 years, so the entry of women into political leadership has caused a tsunami," said Radicova.
"I am so thrilled to be recognising these five outstanding leaders," said Cindi Leive, editor-in-chief of Glamour. "Each of these women has demonstrated tremendous leadership, and their work is an inspiration to girls and women everywhere."
Past honourees include politicians Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton, U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama, actresses Nicole Kidman and Susan Sarandon, tennis player Venus Williams and singer Madonna.
