Radicova: I'm Spokesperson for Rule of Law That's Corruption-Free

Bratislava, November 4 (TASR) - "I'm a spokesperson for the rule of law that's clientelism- and corruption-free," Prime Minister Iveta Radicova (SDKU-DS) said in response to a question posed by Smer-SD MP Branislav Ondrus during the Question Hour in Parliament on Thursday.
In his question, the Smer-SD MP accused Radicova of taking the position of a spokesperson for two opposing Coalition factions. "Does it mean that you don't represent SDKU-DS even on this issue?" Ondrus asked, referring to the ongoing efforts to elect a new Prosecutor-General that has seen Radicova on opposite sides to party chairman Mikulas Dzurinda and other party members.
Radicova assured Ondrus that when it comes to the Prosecutor-General's election, she still maintains the same stance - that there is a need for change – and this outweighs the significance of having a clear party choice.
She also pointed out that in 2003 incumbent General Prosecutor Dobroslav Trnka was elected to his post by virtue of 82 MP votes. "He was supported by KDH, SMK, ANO, Smer-SD, KSS and the faction of independent MPs centred around Ivan Simko. How many camps is this? What kind of deal was it? Was this the deal made between the tall one, stocky one and the eagle-eyed one?" [referring to a fairytale or parable that speaks to the need for various types of people and skill sets to work together - ed. note]
