Coalition Without Agreement on Joint Candidate for Prosecutor General
Tuesday 02 November 2010 Zoom in | Print page
Bratislava, November 2 (TASR) - The four governing parties (SDKU-DS, Freedom and Solidarity/SaS, the Christian Democrats/KDH and Most-Hid) didn't reach an agreement on a joint candidate for prosecutor general, Premier Iveta Radicova (SDKU-DS) announced after the Coalition Council session on Tuesday.
The trio of SaS, KDH and Most-Hid will therefore most probably give its 51 votes to Eva Misikova in the parliamentary vote on Wednesday, while SDKU-DS will apparently provide its 28 votes to Jan Hrivnak.
Meanwhile, the strongest parliamentary party Smer-SD will obviously back current Prosecutor General Dobroslav Trnka. Given this distribution of votes it is to be expected that neither of the three candidates will be elected in the first round.
