Bratislava, December 17 (TASR) – Czech Ambassador Jakub Karfik and Slovak Vice-premier Dusan Caplovic met Thursday in Bratislava and agreed on the need for intensive communication and active participation in significant events organised by either country. Caplovic found occasion to say that the former federation partners are connected through their joint past – one nation 1918-1939 and again 1948-1992 – but also via their shared view of the future.
"Our (Czech and Slovak) membership in many international organisations, co-operation within the V4 countries, promotion of joint interests, the struggle against the crisis, use of eurofunds, human rights and minority agenda form a broad platform for the exchange of ideas, inspiration and search for joint support," said Caplovic's spokesman Michal Kalinak in relaying the content of the meeting.
The Deputy Premier said that Karfik represents a continuation of the above-standard neighbour relations, which can serve as an example and inspiration for others.
