Bratislava, October 27 (TASR) - An agreement between Slovakia and Slovenia on maintaining military graves was approved by the Cabinet at its session on Wednesday.
The agreement will allow access to hitherto unavailable data on Slovak military graves in Slovenia from the First World War. The document should also enhance co-operation concerning the recovery and further construction of dignified resting places for Slovak and Slovenian war dead.
The parties to the agreement will exchange data on the location and condition of military graves and the discovery of new ones, and provide lists of those buried in Slovakia and Slovenia, respectively. The state will bear the cost of maintaining the graves from its own resources.
Slovenia initiated the agreement earlier this year, when it proposed building a memorial to the Slovaks killed in the First World War at the Loce cemetery near the town of Tolmin.
