Car Manufacturers Want Changes in Labour Code and Infrastructure

Bratislava, October 25 (TASR) - Representatives of automobile producers Volkswagen Slovakia, Kia Motors and PSA Citroen and Prime Minister Iveta Radicova all agreed at their meeting Monday in Bratislava on the need to continue the construction of motorways, improve the public infrastructure and introduce changes to the Labour Code.

The car manufacturers would like to see greater flexibility in the Labour Code, with the Prime Minister agreeing, but emphasising that it's important to maintain those provisions which have turned out to be relevant and worthwhile. As for the construction of motorways, all present at the meeting agreed that this represents one of the most fundamental prerequisites for further development of the country.

Despite the ongoing economic crisis, the automobile companies still lack qualified workers. Because of this, it would be good to intensify the co-operation between the education sector and industry. Radicova would also like to address the issue of housing and transport for new employees coming to work from non-commutable distances.

Radicova, who described the car manufacturers as the drivers of Slovakia's economy, promised to pay a personal visit to individual car companies in order to familiarise herself with their situation.
