Bratislava, October 24 (TASR) - The Slovak Television (STV) Council is due to select its new chairman on Wednesday, October 27.
Current chairman Martin Kakos resigned from the post in mid-October, rationalising his decision by pointing to criticism published in the media, as well as the planned merger of STV and Slovak Radio (SRo). "My resignation doesn't mean that the Council has been making mistakes," he stressed at an extraordinary Council session.
At its next session, the Council is due to deal with STV's budget proposal and its programme concept for next year, which was submitted by STV general director Stefan Niznansky. The supervisory commission warned recently that STV's losses could reach €18 million at the end of 2010.
The programme plans also concern sports channel STV3. According to Niznansky, the management definitely won't halt STV3 broadcasts this year as has been predicted in the media. He labelled such claims as rumours.
