Gasparovic to Address Parliament With State-of-Republic Report

Bratislava, October 17 (TASR) - After a break of almost two years, President Ivan Gasparovic plans to address Slovak MPs in a State-of-the-Republic Report, TASR was told by Gasparovic's spokesman Marek Trubac on Sunday.

According to Trubac, the president should address Parliament by the end of 2010. "The date hasn't been set yet," he added.

The last time that Gasparovic presented his opinions on the state of the country was in February 2009, only a few days after he expressed interest in doing so. In his speech he focused mainly on the global economic crisis and its impact on people. He expressed support for Parliament and the government (under the remit of Robert Fico at the time) in its efforts to introduce social reforms.
