Bratislava, October 12 (TASR) - At a meeting in Bratislava on Tuesday, British Ambassador to Slovakia Michael Roberts praised Slovak Defence Minister Lubomir Galko for his efforts in combating corruption and clientelism, the ministry's press department told TASR on the same day.
"We in Britain adopted a law on combating corruption. We admire how you combat it, Mr. Minister. At a time when there is a lack of money, it is necessary to starkly fight bribery," said Roberts.
At the same time, the British ambassador congratulated Galko that he managed to negotiate increasing the ministry's budget for 2011.
Meanwhile, Galko offered the British the use of the Slovak military training site of Lest (Banska Bystrica region). "Slovakia is interested in maintaining and increasing its high credit in Euro-Atlantic structures," said Galko.
Later in the day Galko met Israeli Ambassador Alexander Ben-Zvi, appreciating bilateral relations. "We want to co-operate in repair enterprises, training and education of soldiers, as well as in the military industry," said Galko.
