Eight Candidates Running for Mayor of Bratislava

Bratislava, October 4 (TASR) - In total eight candidates are running for the post of Bratislava mayor on November 27, TASR was told by the city electoral commission clerk Anna Hajduchova on Monday.
The centre-right coalition SDKU-DS, KDH, SaS, Most-Hid and Civic Conservatives (OKS) has nominated former actress and SDKU-DS MP Magda Vasaryova. Independent mayor of the borough of Petrzalka Milan Ftacnik (backed by Smer-SD) is expected to be her main rival.
Also running is civic activist and entrepreneur Alojz Hlina, current mayor Andrej Durkovsky's critic Jozef Bonko, and one of the main figures of the 1989 Velvet Revolution Jan Budaj (backed by a coalition of minor parties).
The re-emerged SDL (Party of the Democratic Left) has put into the race its chief Marek Blaha (also backed by Greens).
Hajduchova declined to reveal the names of the remaining two candidates, adding that they will be presented to the public at Thursday's session of the electoral commission.
