Bratislava/New York, October 3 (TASR) - The Slovak Tourist Board (SACR) and local tour operators staged a three-day road show late last week in New York, presenting U.S. travel agencies from the cities of Boston, Minneapolis and Dallas with tourist opportunities in Slovakia.
"A total of 130 travel agencies were interested in learning about Slovakia," said Peter Petian of the Slovak Embassy to U.S. in New York, which was instrumental in arrangements for the September 28-30 event.
Slovakia-held roundtables arranged as part of presentation featured SACR's Adriana Behunova and Eva Uherova.
According to Petian, leaders of American travel agencies have never learnt or heard about Slovakia as an independent country. A third of them had in the past visited Czechoslovakia, while only a few set foot in what is today Slovakia.
American tour-operators were also told about Slovakia's tallest mountain range Vysoke Tatry and sites registered in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List as well as about the offer of the Kempinski hotel chain in the winter resort Strbske Pleso and in Bratislava.
