Bratislava, October 1 (TASR) - The judicial initiative 'For Open Judiciary' on Friday expressed its view that the Supreme Court's legal proceedings aimed against Fair-Play Alliance director Zuzana Wienk for suspicion of libel is inappropriate and undignified.
"We think that the courts, which should guarantee basic human rights and freedoms, should be reserved when it comes to criticisms expressed by the public against their activities and they should only react to criticism in a verbal or written manner. For example, call for explanation, refute the criticism via convincing arguments etc.," reads a statement of the initiative.
According to the Supreme Court, Wienk falsely accused Supreme Court Chairman Stefan Harabin and former vice-chair Daniela Svecova of unlawfully changing the make-up of senates and interfering in the electronic assigning of cases to judges. The court reacted by taking Wienk to court.
