Slovakia Facing Another Round of EU Proceedings in e-Toll System Case

Brussels, September 27 (TASR-CORRESPONDENT) - Slovakia, in all likelihood, is facing second round of proceedings conducted by the European Commission (EC) over the question marks raised in connection with the tender competition to operate Slovakia's electronic toll system, said a source close to the European Union executive (EC) on Monday.
By the end of September, Slovak authorities should receive the EC's position, which features continued objections to the result of the tender procedure in question. The Slovak Government – which inherited the situation from its Robert Fico-led predecessor – will be given two months to account for the way the toll system was treated.
The European Commission has several times reviewed the toll tender procedure and has asked Slovakia to explain the implementation of the agreement with tender winner SkyToll company. The Commission objects to the way the terms of the agreement were altered for SkyToll after the electronic toll system was launched.
