Bratislava, September 27 (TASR) - The electronic road-toll system brought more than €89 million into the state coffers between its launching in January and August, with 40.4 percent of the sum paid by lorries from abroad, road-toll operator SkyToll spokesperson Lenka Lendacka said on Monday.
"It's further proof that Slovakia is an important transit country. Thanks to the electronic tolls, the state receives from foreign lorry operators more and more money for construction and maintenance of its road infrastructure," said SkyToll general director Matej Okali.
Meanwhile, the European Commission is investigating whether SkyToll won the much-discussed tender for providing the electronic road-toll system lawfully.
