Next Year's State Budget Deficit Set at €3.8 bn (UPDATE)

Bratislava, September 22 (TASR) - The state budget should feature revenues on €13.1 billion and expenditures €16.936 billion next year, meaning that the deficit will be €3.836 billion, according to the budget proposal published by the Finance Ministry on Wednesday.

The essential parameters of Slovakia's state budget for 2011, okayed by the Coalition Council late on Tuesday, is to be fine-tuned in the days ahead. Then, the final version will be submitted to the Government for approval.

The deadline for this has been set for September 30.

Compared to the initial budget framework that the ministry had published in August, increases were made in expenditures for the Transport Ministry (plus €228 million allocated for roads and railways), the Labour Ministry (an extra €91-million allocation for projects designed to support families, and €21 million set for welfare benefits for the most socially-disadvantaged), and for the Education Ministry (€7 million more to cover teachers' salaries). In addition, Government Office was allocated an extra €33.5 million for anti-flood measures.
