Bratislava, September 21 (TASR) - The Interior Ministry plans to enhance security at the football stadiums and expel hooligans that threaten decent people, Interior Minister Daniel Lipsic (Christian Democratic Movement/KDH) said after holding talks with the Union of League Clubs representatives on Tuesday.
To this end, Lipsic plans to tighten up a number of regulations. "Football clubs need to better secure the discipline of their fans. If decent people stop going to stadiums out of fear for their health and security, the matches will become an eldorado for hooligans and extremists," said Lipsic.
The Union pledged to draw up proposals to deal with this problem by the end of October, and the ministry planning to make a decision on subsequent steps.
This initiative comes in the wake of several violent clashes, notably between Trnava and Slovan 'ultrafans'.
