High Tatras, September 18 (TASR) - The most discussed topics at the meeting of the top NATO officials held in High Tatras (Presov region) were ISAF operations in Afghanistan, KFOR mission in Kosovo and the new 2020 strategy of the North-Atlantic Treaty Organisation, Chief of Armed Forces General Staff Lubomir Bulik said at a press conference on Saturday.
According to Bulik, the purpose of the meeting was to find agreement among top military representatives of the individual member states on the most important issues the alliance is currently faced with. "And reaching that agreement within the deadline, so these military recommendations can be further passed on to the talks held by defence ministers and foreign affairs ministers, with an eye towards having these recommendations formulated in their final form by the November's NATO summit," said General Bulik.
He pointed out to the fact that the last NATO strategic conception was passed in 1999.
NATO Military Committee Chairman Giampaolo Di Paola told journalists that the financial problem concerns all member states. "The governments have some very tough choices to make. When these finances are restricted, a problem to efficiently focus on the priorities arises," said Di Paola.
