Slota: We'll Talk about Overblown Cases in January

Bratislava, December 15 (TASR) - The Slovak National Party (SNS) in January wants to begin talks the overblown cases that have been connected with the party by the media, SNS head Jan Slota told journalists on Tuesday.

The media have been waging a smear campaign against SNS for almost two years, using lies as the main method, claimed Slota.

"It's beyond comprehension. I believe that the vast majority of the Slovak public has apprehended what's going on there," said Slota.

SNS wants to talk about the controversial notice-board tender at the Construction and Regional Development Ministry (led by SNS), the case involving the sale of carbon-dioxide quotas at the Environment Ministry (led by SNS at the time when the scandal emerged) and the shady fly-ash tender, said Slota.

Several SNS ministers were forced to leave their posts over medialised scandals - environment minister Jaroslav Izak in August 2008, construction minister Marian Janusek in April 2009, environment minister Jan Chrbet in May 2009 and another environment minister Viliam Tursky in August 2009. Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) then removed the Environment Ministry from SNS's remit altogether.
