Trencin, December 15 (TASR) - The academic senates from three faculties at the Alexander Dubcek Trencin University on Tuesday voiced their opposition to the University's academic senate attempts to remove Rector Miroslav Mecar from office over a recent scandal of three academic degrees having been awarded unusually quickly.
The academic senates from the faculty of socio-economic relations, the faculty of special equipment and the faculty of health care placed in doubt the legality of a December 7 special session during which the university's top academic senate had agreed to ask the Education Ministry to sack Mecar.
According to them, the top academic senate did not select its chief and deputy chief in compliance with the relevant rules and thus the session concerned is void.
The Education Ministry continues to examine the ouster proposal from the Trencin university academic senate and has yet to take a decision on it.
