Pezinok, September 13 (TASR) - US Ambassador to Slovakia Theodore Sedgwick opened a one-day workshop at the Justice Academy in Pezinok (Bratislava region) focusing on efficient fight against corruption featuring American and Slovak experts at suppressing corruption.
"It is comforting to know that the current government pays increased attention to the fight against corruption. But it is not enough only to speak of the extent of corruption in society, it is also necessary to lay conditions for its suppression," Sedgwick told during the opening ceremony.
The ambassador said that U.S., just like Slovakia, has problems with corruption among public officials, but its efficient legislative tools and measures have made U.S. into global leader in the number of uncovered and punished crimes.
Attending experts are from the ranks of the police, justice sector and prosecutor's office.
