Radicova Says Sorry to Austria Over Completion of Two Mochovce Blocks

Vienna, September 12 (TASR-correspondent) - During her working trip to Vienna on Sunday, Slovak Prime Minister Iveta Radicova apologised to her Austrian counterpart Werner Faymann for the previous Slovak government's unilateral decision in May concerning the completion of blocks 3 and 4 at the nuclear power plant in Mochovce (Nitra region).

Radicova said that she did this because the Austrian side criticised the fact that it was informed only after the media reported on Slovakia's plan to complete the two blocks. "I've accepted their objection that they heard it only from the media, and I've apologised for that. It's true that in such a case it's hard [for them] to take a positive, constructive attitude," Radicova told reporters.

According to the premier, Slovakia broke an agreement that any decisions on completing the power plant in Mochovce would be taken only after the given matter had already been consulted on the turf of a mixed commission of 20 members. Radicova also said that she assured Faymann that the completion work at Mochovce will be highly transparent.
