V4 Diplomats to Meet at GLOBSEC Conference and Hold Advance Meeting

Bratislava, September 9 (TASR) - On September 14 in Bratislava, Slovakia will host the international security conference GLOBSEC 2010 with new foreign ministers from Visegrad Four countries in attendance, officials said.

Dating from 2005, the annual Central European event GLOBSEC will be addressed by Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Mikulas Dzurinda, his counterparts from Hungary Janos Martonyi, the Czech Republic's Karel Schwarzenberg and Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Mikolaj Dowgielewicz giving speeches on energy security in the region.

The V4 diplomats will hold an advance meeting to discuss the U.S.-led anti-missile defence shield in the Czech Republic and Poland that features new agreements, and the financial perspective in the sector for 2014-2020.

Their next meeting – extended to include the Western Balkans and Belgium – is scheduled for October 22.

A regular summit of V4 premiers, which will mark the 20th anniversary of the Group, is slated to take place on the cusp of the year and may include German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who was invited by Prime Minister Iveta Radicova during here recent working visit to Berlin.
