Bratislava, September 9 (TASR) - The National Memory Institute (UPN) last year made available 20,481 pages of documents from the years 1939-89 (covering the eras of the wartime fascist state and the Communist regime) left by former state security forces, reads the UPN's annual report for 2009 approved by Parliament on Thursday.
The documents were made available to 242 people last year based on applications. The number of applications fell for the third year in a row, however. There were 40 more applications in 2008.
The Institute, led by Ivan Petransky, obtained more than €1.6 million for its activities last year. Its incomes reached €36,873. The number of its employees rose, with their total number reaching 83 at the end of 2009. The Institute has been trying to resolve its problem with finding headquarters. It is currently having to use rented premises.
