Growth in Slovakia's Industrial Output Slowed in July to 16.82 percent Y-o-Y

Bratislava, September 8 (TASR) - Slovakia's industrial output rose by 16.82 percent on the year, compared with annual growth of 23.52 percent in June, the Slovak Statistics Office said on Wednesday.

Output was largely driven by the key manufacturing segment, which was up by 21.5 percent, and a 0.3-percent rise in the delivery of electricity, steam, natural gas and cold air. Conversely, the troubled mining industry recorded an annual fall of 7.1 percent in July after posting a loss of 0.6 percent in June.

Adjusted for seasonal effects, output in July fell by 2.8 percent on the month.

According to the stats office, a boost for industrial production came from the output of electrical and optical equipment and computers, which rose 58.1 percent year-on-year. Compared to last year, production of machines soared by 50.7 percent. In contrast, the output of coke and refined oil products fell by 10.7 percent.

Between January and July, Slovakia's industrial production index rose by 21.3 percent on the same period a year earlier. Manufacturing was up 23.8 percent, the delivery of water, electrify gas and cold air rose by 12.12 percent, and mining was up 3.4 percent.
