President Expresses Condolences Following Shooting in Bratislava

Bratislava, August 30 (TASR) - President Ivan Gasparovic on Monday expressed his condolences to the bereaved after the fatal shootings that took place in Bratislava earlier on the same day, TASR was told by Gasparovic's spokesman Marek Trubac.
Gasparovic hopes that the death toll, now reported as seven, won't rise any further. According to Trubac, the president is following the news and communicating with the Interior Ministry vis-a-vis the latest developments. Trubac added that the head of state is as shocked about the tragedy as everybody else.
Bratislava mayor Andrej Durkovsky also expressed his sorrow over the incident, which took place at around 10 a.m. in the Bratislava borough of Devinska Nova Ves, TASR was told by his spokesperson Beatrice Szaboova.
The local authorities are ready to co-operate at any time in the investigation via the city police. Durkovsky is in contact with Interior Minister Daniel Lipsic and city police chief Zuzana Zajacova.
