Eurobarometer: 62 percent of Slovaks Say Economic Reforms Necessary

Bratislava, August 28 (TASR) - Almost two-thirds (62 percent) of Slovaks think that the country must introduce economic reforms in order to tackle current economic problems, according to a recent Eurobarometer survey.
Meanwhile, the European average stands at 74 percent.
At the same time, 65 percent of the approached in Slovakia said that they trust the EU institutions. Conversely, the figure reached one-fifth in the United Kingdom. All in all, Europeans tend to trust European institutions more than their national ones. While as much as 42 percent of Europeans have trust in the European institutions, only 29 percent in average have confidence in their national governments and 31 percent in their national parliaments.
The survey has also shown that Slovaks would welcome better co-ordination of economic and financial policies at EU level, with 89 percent wishing so, which is the highest figure in the entire EU. The EU-average is 14 percentage points lower.
