SNS: Lukac Will Apply for NBU Clearance to Clear His Name

Bratislava, August 28 (TASR) - Opposition Slovak National Party (SNS) MP Vincent Lukac will apply for National Security Bureau's (NBU) clearance to dispel allegations of his connection to the organised crime, even though MPs aren't obliged to undergo such tests, Dusan Strauss from the SNS press department told TASR on Saturday.

SNS was reacting to an appeal issued by Prime Minister Iveta Radicova (SDKU-DS) earlier in the day, who called for Lukac to resign from the post of MP over his self-confessed contacts with the Mafia. "I value Mafiosos and they value me," said Lukac earlier this week.

Strauss described Radicova's appeal as an attempt to cover "real problems of Slovakia and the governing Coalition's inability to resolve them".

"The Government in its Manifesto pledged to increase the people's sense of security. For the time being, however, we've been witnesses of violence on ordinary people, burglaries, attacks on teachers and car explosions," said Strauss. He added that it's about time to protect the people before dangerous recidivists, who haven't been mentioned in the Government Manifesto at all.
