Bratislava, August 27 (TASR) - The News Agency of the Slovak Republic (TASR) is continuing to make its activities more efficient and effective, which includes a 20-percent reduction in its staff as of December 31, TASR general director Jaroslav Reznik said on Friday.
The employment of 19 employees will be terminated with compensations set to be paid out, while the contracts of another 13 employees will expire by the end of the year.
According to Reznik, this rationalisation in the staff will affect neither the quantity nor the quality of TASR's services – quite the opposite. "For a third year now, we've been reconstructing TASR based on the principle 'lean to the extreme', or the principle of travelling light. We want to be as flexible and effective as possible," according to Reznik. "We're simplifying the technological processes of production and distribution of information in order to be able to earn the most with the lowest cost possible," he added
Reznik also said that TASR is currently preparing a series of thematic and technological innovations, including a 'new' news service, the details of which will be presented in the fall.
