Bratislava, August 18 (TASR) - Corruption, problems with law-enforcement, frequently-changing laws and high levies remain major impediments to business in Slovakia, according to a report on the state of the entrepreneurial sector in Slovakia for 2010 released by the Slovak Business Alliance (PAS) on Wednesday.
Conditions in the country have deteriorated from above average in 2006 to below average in 2010, reads the report.
More than half of entrepreneurs and managers in a PAS survey described conditions as more negative than positive, while there was the opposite tendency back in 2006.
Over 85 of those asked identified corruption as a serious obstacle to business. Compared to the 2006 poll, the problem has been upgraded from fourth place all the way to the top. In addition, nearly the same assessment was given to law-enforcement via courts.
Third and fourth places are occupied by the instability and vagueness of laws and high levies, respectively, with approximately half of the entrepreneurs questioned choosing these two areas as serious hindrances to their business activities.
