Bratislava, August 18 (TASR) - China wants to continue in increasing its trade balance with Slovakia, new Chinese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Slovakia Ziping Gu said while presenting his credentials to Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic on Wednesday.
Gasparovic noted that Slovakia has built many industrial parks which provide scope for boosting economic co-operation. According to Gasparovic, Slovakia can offer to China its experience in agriculture and forestry, while it is also interested in signing new contracts in healthcare and traditional Chinese medicine. "On the other hand, co-operation in arts and culture is weak," said the president.
Meanwhile, Chinese investors could be interested in Slovak spas, thermal springs and production of mineral waters, noted Gasparovic.
"I think that our relations are also good in international institutions, such as the United Nations. We often have the same opinions on global problems, and I'm pleased that we can agree with China on mutual support of individual candidates for posts in the UN," said Gasparovic, adding that bilateral relations have been traditionally good from the times of the erstwhile Czechoslovakia.
In early September, Gasparovic is set to visit the Expo world fair in Shanghai. September 4 has been set as the Slovak National Day at the fair, with Slovakia having the opportunity to present its culture to the world.
