Mihal Plans to Make Everyone Subject to Retirement Insurance Payments

Bratislava, August 16 (TASR) - Jozef Mihal, Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and the Family, has announced plans to put everyone earning their income from an employer or as self-employed under the obligation to pay pension insurance.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, Mihal said he finds the current system of social contributions or payroll tax unfair in that it contains many exemptions that need to be removed in order to enable an across-the-board reduction in contributions.

Under the planned measures, even the executives of limited liability companies who have to date not paid retirement insurance premiums will have to do so and thereby become entitled to a pension based on the period of pension insurance payments.
