Radicova Interrupts Holiday and Comes Back to Slovakia Due to Floods

Bratislava, August 16 (TASR) - Prime Minister Iveta Radicova has interrupted her holiday in Croatia and is coming back to Slovakia due to the floods that are hitting the Upper Nitra area especially hard, Radicova's spokesman Rado Bato told TASR on Monday.
The premier is set to visit the most affected areas on Tuesday before chairing a Government session on Wednesday. Financial assistance for the areas in trouble is also on the session's agenda.
Earlier in the day, it was announced that Radicova (SDKU-DS) had set aside €300,000 from the premier's reserve as relief for areas in Upper Nitra hit by the floods at the weekend.
At the same time, the prime minister expressed her sorrow over the loss of a human life and sent her condolences to the bereaved. The floods have claimed at least one life, a man from Handlova (Trencin region) who drowned while attempting to save his car. Another man from the nearby town of Prievidza is missing.
