Bratislava, August 16 (TASR) - Finance Minister Ivan Miklos (SDKU-DS) announced on Monday that he will submit a document at the Government session on Wednesday that would set aside €11 million for local authorities to tackle the aftermath of the floods that hit the country at the weekend.
At the same time, ministers are working on further extraordinary measures aimed at facilitating rescue and relief work in the areas affected by the floods. "We'll submit these measures at the Government session on Wednesday, August 25," said Miklos, adding that Prime Minister Iveta Radicova (SDKU-DS) is co-ordinating the whole process even though she is on holiday in Croatia at the moment.
Heavy rains on Sunday caused floods mainly in the Upper Nitra area, with a third degree flood alert still in place on Monday.
