EU-harmonised Inflation Increased to 1 percent Y-o-Y in July

Bratislava, August 16 (TASR) - The rate of growth in the prices of goods and services in Slovakia measured by EU methodology went up from 0.7 percent year-on-year in June to 1 percent in July, the fastest pace since the summer of 2009, Slovakia's Statistics Office announced on Monday.

Meanwhile, prices rose by 0.1 percent month-on-month in July.

Average inflation measured in the period between August 2009-July 2010 reached 0.3 percent.

Prices in July grew most rapidly in alcohol and tobacco (by 7.7 percent). Significant price increases were also reported in education (4.5 percent) and in healthcare (4.2 percent). Conversely, furniture prices fell by 3.5 percent y-o-y.

Inflation calculated according to national methodology, as reported by the Statistics Office last week, rose from 1 percent y-o-y in June to 1.1 percent in July.
