Supreme Court Employee Files Against FinMin as Private Individual

Bratislava, August 13 (TASR) - A private individual has filed a criminal complaint against the Finance Ministry with the Prosecutor-General's Office, citing unlawful attempts to carry out a financial audit at the Supreme Court, said Prosecutor-General Dobroslav Trnka on Friday, stopping short of disclosing the name of the complainant.

The complainant is an employee but not a statutory representative of the Supreme Court, so his submission won't be treated as one of the Court or its chairman Stefan Harabin.

The Finance Ministry v the Supreme Court case dates back to the end of last month when the Finance Ministry was repeatedly prevented from conducting an audit, with the Court claiming that this is unlawful. The Court is only subject to the Supreme Audit Office, argued Harabin.

Finance Minister Ivan Miklos imposed €33,000 and €1,000 fines on the institution and its chief, respectively, and is currently working on a criminal complaint against the court for obstructing the audit.
