Parliamentary Committee to Look Into Slap Across Face in Parliament

Bratislava, August 11 (TASR) - The parliamentary immunity and mandate committee will discuss the slap across the face administered on Tuesday by Slovak National Party (SNS) deputy chairwoman Anna Belousovava to co-ruling Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) MP Igor Matovic after receiving a petition to do so from SaS lawmaker Natalia Blahova, committee chief Gabor Gal told TASR the next day.

Belousovova slapped Matovic for calling her Ancha in a newspaper article. She defended herself by saying that she only attempted to explain to Matovic how he should treat a lady. "Mr. Matovic lacks upbringing and doesn't know the way to treat a lady..." she said, unrepentant.

"She gave me a motherly one. Came after me, asking whether I meant her by saying Ancha. I told her I did," said Matovic, who described the slap as a demonstration of Christian love. "I'll reciprocate by turning the other cheek," he quipped, adding that he doesn't expect an apology from Belousovova, who has brought disgrace upon herself. He also stated that he won't retaliate by suing her.
