Ministries to Look Into Contracts Concluded Around Election Date
Wednesday 11 August 2010 Zoom in | Print page
Bratislava, August 11 (TASR) - Ministries and other central public-administration bodies will carry out analyses of contracts worth more €500,000 that were concluded between May 1-July 8, 2010, looking for any high-risk aspects within them, reads a document approved by government ministers on Wednesday.
Other inspections should be carried out in 2011. This is how Prime Minister Iveta Radicova wants to strengthen the quality of internal control mechanisms at ministries and other central public-administration bodies. According to her, shortcomings in this area led to the wasteful spending of public finances and state capital.
The Government claims that the high public-finance deficit means that financial reserves should be found in and austerity methods applied to all, especially the highest-risk, areas of public-finance management, namely public procurements, the process of investment in construction and the drawing of EU Funds.
