Bratislava, August 10 (TASR) - Slovak National Party (SNS) Vice-chair Anna Belousovova on Tuesday slapped Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) MP Igor Matovic across the face over an article in one of his own newspapers in which he called her Ancha (colloquial for Anna).
"She gave me a maternal slap. She came up to me, showed me the article and asked if by saying Ancha I meant her. I told her yes," said Matovic, who thinks that the slap was a demonstration of her Christian love. "I'll get her back by turning the other cheek," he said, adding that he doesn't expect any apology from Belousovova. "She's brought shame on herself, I won't seek any payback or press charges."
Matovic conceded that he was shaken by the incident. Even Prime Minister Iveta Radicova advised him to let it go, however.
Belousovova said in reaction that she had only tried to explain to Matovic how a gentleman should behave toward a lady. "Mr. Matovic lacks a proper upbringing and doesn't know how to treat a lady," she stressed. "I've got a certain name and surname, I'm no 'hey you' for anyone, much less for Mr. Matovic. I won't let anyone insult me," she added.
