Bratislava, August 10 (TASR) - The opposition Smer-SD party on Tuesday submitted an amending proposal to the draft of the Government Manifesto, which has been discussed in Parliament since last Tuesday.
The amendatory proposal contains seven points. "Consider this attitude as a constructive contribution without malevolence and political rivalry in the interests of Slovakia's further development," said Smer MP Vladimir Faic.
In the proposal, Smer asks the Government to draw up a strategy to tackle the economic crisis, a concept for developing employment and creating new jobs, and an analysis of the risks involved vis-a-vis the Government Manifesto with regard to the EU's efforts to tackle the effects of the economic crisis.
At the same time, Smer appeals to the Cabinet to work out a national strategy for bolstering the quality of life in Slovakia and a programme of support and protection for the elderly. It also wants the Government to begin work on the Europe 2020 document quickly, and requires that the Government report to Parliament on its progress in carrying out these measures.
