Bratislava, August 10 (TASR) - Coalition party Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) will buy shares in the company Liberal House from 16 party members with a overall value of €1.275 million so that the party will become its exclusive owner, SaS chairman Richard Sulik said at a press conference on Tuesday.
The parliamentary chairman gave assurances that the state won't finance any MPs' offices at Liberal House. To buy the shares, SaS will use money that came into its account on Monday (August 8) and represents part of the contribution given to political parties from state coffers.
Sulik also said that Liberal House will offer premises for SaS MPs to hold meetings in. "It won't be financed from the contribution for MPs' offices. SaS MPs won't have any MPs' offices in Bratislava at all," he added.
In addition, SaS wants to initiate a change in legislation so that the contribution for MPs' offices can't be used in Bratislava, as MPs are already provided with one office in the area of Bratislava Castle.
Sulik still claims that he views Liberal House as a good idea, because it not only creates scope for SaS but also for affiliated institutions. "We've underestimated the sensitivity of society, which has already witnessed various cases of the fraudulent financing of political parties. I'm sorry that the situation developed in this way and I apologise to our voters," he said.
