Bratislava, August 5 (TASR) - One-off benefits given to parents on the birth of a first, second and third child won't be abolished, Prime Minister Iveta Radicova said on Thursday.
She was speaking after plans concerning this area were announced recently by Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Minister Jozef Mihal.
"Nothing like this is included in the Government Manifesto or the programme priorities, it isn't among the plans of this Government," said Radicova, calling Mihal's statements mere considerations.
"He voiced considerations about how it could be done in a way so that it wouldn't only apply to the first, second and third child," said the premier.
As regards family policies, the Cabinet aims to push to extend maternity leave up to one year instead of the current six months. This objective will hinge on the consolidation of public finances, however, she added.
