Baska Due to Visit Soldiers in KFOR and ALTHEA Operations on Monday

Bratislava, December 12 (TASR) - Slovak Defence Minister Jaroslav Baska will on Monday visit Slovak soldiers, who carry out their duties within the KFOR mission in Kosovo and the ALTHEA operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, TASR learnt on Saturday.
During his one-day working visit, Baska will meet chief commander of the KFOR mission Markus J. Bentler and the Sajkovac camp. He will also visit the Bosnian Defence Ministry and meet his counterpart Selmo Cikotic. A meeting with EUFOR chief commander Bernhard Bair will follow.
According to the Slovak Defence Ministry's website, the KFOR mission is aimed at strengthening safety at the borders between Kosovo and Albania and monitoring terrorist activities. Slovak soldiers have been taking part in this NATO's mission since September 7, 1999. The number of Slovak soldiers deployed in it is about 140.
There are also 35 Slovak soldiers active in Bosnia and Herzegovina within the EU's mission ALTHEA, while the Slovak Parliament approved sending 40 servicemen.
