Nicholsonova: State Probably Won't Have to Pay Social Enterprises

Bratislava, August 3 (TASR) - The state will probably not have to pay the so-called social enterprises any more money, said Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Ministry State Secretary Lucia Nicholsonova on Tuesday, refusing to explain how the ministry wants to ensure this, however.

"We'll cast doubt on the whole process of concluding contracts with social enterprises," said Nicholsonova at a press conference.

According to her, under the remit of former minister Viera Tomanova (Smer-SD), the ministry signed contracts with four of the eight pilot social enterprises on halting their financing, even though it could simply have backed out of the contracts. "We have a quite decent analysis worked out on this. In at least two cases, such an agreement didn't have to be concluded," said Nicholsonova.

The new state secretary pointed to the former ministry management when asked why the agreements were signed. According to her, the employees who prepared the contracts were given the order "from above". "The biggest land mine at the ministry was the social enterprises of ex-minister Viera Tomanova," said Nicholsonova.

Another problem that she inherited is what she called "maximum overemployment". There were a hundred people at the ministry who were employed only according to an agreement. Minister Jozef Mihal (SaS) wanted to make these people redundant. "Employees on agreement suddenly became (full-time) employees, even without a probationary period, while those who really worked were employed according to an agreement," added Nicholsonova.
