Gasparovic: Time Will Tell Whether Government Manifesto Is Fulfilled

Bratislava, August 3 (TASR) - I believe that when something new starts it will be fulfilled, said President Ivan Gasparovic in Parliament on Tuesday after Prime Minister Iveta Radicova introduced the Government Manifesto.
According to Gasparovic, time shows no mercy and people are the harshest judges. He thinks that the proposals presented by Radicova are worth thinking about and that the future will tell whether the Government is able to meet them. Some of them won't be easily secured, however, he added.
Gasparovic stated that it isn't important whether the Manifesto is supported by coalition or opposition MPs, but whether they agree on individual proposals. He said that he himself is most interested in the promised reforms of the education and healthcare systems.
The president doesn't see any reason to return laws to Parliament if they benefit people. On the other hand, he doesn't see any reason either to change, for example, the social laws that he has already signed. "I'm not competing with Parliament or the Government," he added.
